Position Description

WingXpand is seeking a hands-on IT Server & Network Administrator to select, source, install, configure, and maintain servers and network infrastructure. This role owns practical IT execution—standing up servers, configuring networks, supporting engineering tools, and keeping systems reliable and secure. This is a builder role for someone who enjoys working directly with hardware, networking, and real systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Server Infrastructure

  • Select, source, rack, install, and configure physical and/or virtual servers.
  • Install and maintain server operating systems (Windows and/or Linux).
  • Configure storage, backups, user access, monitoring, and system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server performance and availability issues.


Engineering Systems (Core Requirement)

  • Install, configure, and support CAD and PDM software for engineering teams.
  • Support engineering file storage, permissions, version control, and access workflows.
  • Partner with engineering staff to troubleshoot performance, access, and system issues related to CAD/PDM environments.


Systems & Documentation

  • Maintain clear documentation of server builds, network layouts, and configurations.
  • Support systems operating in a Microsoft GCC-High environment where required
  • Provide responsive help desk support for hardware, software, access, and connectivity issues.
  • Work onsite out of the Chicago/Schaumburg office as needed to support secure systems and hardware

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Server Administrator, Network Administrator, or Systems Administrator.
  • Direct experience building, installing, and configuring servers (physical).
  • Hands-on experience installing and supporting CAD and PDM systems in an engineering environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
  • Hands-on experience with networking equipment, VPNs, firewalls, and switches.
  • Comfortable working onsite and physically handling hardware.

Additional qualifications:

  • Familiarity with security best practices for servers, networks, and access control.
  • Experience operating in regulated or government-adjacent environments.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-171, CMMC, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience contributing to security or system documentation (e.g., SSPs, POA&Ms).
